Hey guys, it’s been 3 months since l last uploaded a blog post here and to be honest I am a bit embarrassed coming back on here but I want to be honest with you guys and explain why I have been away for so long.
For the past three months, there have been some personal matters and responsibilities that have not only impacted my time but also my ability to write and write pieces about topics that I am passionate about that I share with you, but I have also been struggling with what is known as writers block, where I have just felt a bit stuck in the process of creating ideas for what to write or simply having content in my files and not pushing it out.
I believe that I am not perfect, but I am self-aware, and so I can identify my weaknesses and my reasoning behind why I do things, and I can definitely say that my writers block was rooted in perfectionism, which I struggled with and overcame in other areas of my life but never in writing. I wanted everything I wrote to be perfect and free from mistakes. I think that everything happens for a reason, and that every reason has a lesson to teach us, so I'd want to share with you a few things that these 3 months being inconsistent with my writing has taught me:
Perfectionism is not real, it doesn’t exist and it is not of God - If you waste your time trying to make things perfect you will keep waiting. Nothing is perfect but you can progressively get better at something by practicing it regularly e.g writing, painting or even sewing
Community is everything - With your craft and with your abilities you need people to encourage you and to believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. I am blessed to have a circle of people who encourage me and push me to be better despite me sometimes doubting myself.
Believe in your sauce - You probably hear the phrase “believe in yourself or else nobody will” but it’s true. Before anyone is your cheerleader you have to be your biggest cheerleader. Believe in yourself and in your ability to create, be confident in that and see how it will flourish overtime.
Hey mercy, your first point from the three spoke to me the most tbh, it’s nice to see you back on writing🤘🏾
